どくそうてき != dokusotechie

Don’t be alarmed! You’ve come to the right place if you re looking for Vince Arroyo. If you were looking for something else, well I hope you enjoy the site regardless. The URL of the site is a play on words. Although phonetically similar, the correct spelling is dokusoteki and I love the meaning as it applies to my approach on everything I do. In addition, that domain was already taken…

Explore History

I have over 28 years’ experience in computer graphics in the development of applications. Started my career in video games as 3D artist then Art Director and eventually Creative Director. After experiences in most genres and platforms up to iOS, I eventually transitioned to the Geospatial realm focused on map making/GIS. Maps are very similar to games in terms of real time interaction, constraints of the target platforms, and the goal of a high visual bar with limited resources. In addition to maps production, being embedded in Maps Human Interface exposed me to other disciplines including UX, Cartography, Designing for Accessibility, and understanding the role of big data!

What else??!!

I like to keep my “hands dirty” with my various interests outside of work. I believe experiences beyond work not only keeps things fresh but inspiration can be drawn from other disciplines. New ideas sometimes present themselves when the mind is clear to focus on other things, like avoiding that large rock in front of you.
